[Durham INC] A fun volunteer opportunity with Bike Durham at the Earth Day Festival

Hi,

Bike Durham is coordinating the Way to Go Durham
<https://waytogodurham.com/> Sustainable Transportation Expo at the Earth
Day Festival <https://www.dprplaymore.org/299/Earth-Day-Festival> this
year, and we need your help. On Sunday, April 24th at Durham Central Park,
we will be hosting a traffic garden for young people learning their bicycle
safety skills and providing bike valet services for attendees at the
festival.

The event runs from noon to 5pm, with set-up occurring as early as 9am and
break-down until 5:30 or so. We have set up multiple shifts to give you
lots of opportunities to volunteer. You can sign up here

either the Traffic Garden or the Bike Valet.

Traffic Garden set-up requires following a guide to lay out tape and chalk
on the asphalt to create a mini street for youth to learn how to bike
safely on our streets. Each intersection requires a volunteer to guide the
young people on bikes. Valets will check-in and check-out the bikes of
festival attendees.

Other activities during the Expo will include test rides of e-bikes from eBike
Central <https://ebikecentral.net/> and test rides of e-scooters from Helbiz
<https://helbiz.com/>. You can also check out GoDurham
<https://godurhamtransit.org/>'s newest electric bus and get information
about the City's projects to improve safety for walking, biking, and using
transit.
