---------------------------------------------------------------
Public Works, in partnership with DPR, recently launched the Trail Repair
Project to repair several miles of some of the City's oldest, original
trails. The project will fix decades of deferred maintenance issues
(cracking, puddles, potholes, minor drainage problems) along seven to eight
miles of the City's greenway trails to improve safety, usability, and the user
experience. The trail sections selected for the project were identified as
areas in the greatest need of repair in the 2017 Trail Condition Assessment
and were prioritized using criteria including connectivity to employment
areas and racial and economic demographic data. The repairs are being
performed within the boundaries of the City's greenway easements and the
equipment/vehicles will enter the trails from public street crossings. Adjacent
private properties will not be disturbed or used for access but trail users
and neighbors will likely notice heavy equipment and construction crews on
the trails during construction. Digital message boards and bi-lingual signs
will continue to be posted at closure areas to help reach trail users that
may not obtain information announced on social media.
