The North Carolina Office of Governor Roy Cooper invites you to join the
second of three* virtual public information sessions on the North Carolina
Deep Decarbonization Pathways Analysis on Tuesday, October 18th from 6 to
7:30 pm (EST). *This online webinar is free to attend and everyone is
welcome and encouraged to participate!



*Background:*  In January 2022 Governor Cooper signed Executive Order No.
246 <https://governor.nc.gov/media/2907/open> to further North Carolina’s
transformation to a clean, equitable economy that creates jobs and economic
growth throughout the state.  The order directs several new initiatives,
including the development of a Deep Decarbonization Pathways Analysis (“
Pathways Analysis”) to better understand viable pathways to achieve
net-zero GHG emissions across North Carolina’s economy by 2050 and interim
targets.  The project is analyzing various pathways- looking at a variety
of factors ranging from technology trends to population growth- to help
policymakers and stakeholders understand the biggest opportunities to
reduce emissions and sequester carbon, as well as further explore the
tradeoffs between different emissions reduction strategies.



*What to Expect: *State officials will provide more information about the
Pathways Analysis, including a recap on the project and a *presentation of
draft modeling results.*  There will also be an opportunity to ask
questions and provide feedback.
