City of Durham to Observe Veterans Day



DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham will observe the upcoming Veterans Day holiday on Friday, November 11.  Most City offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City facilities and operations, will be closed to the public.



Curbside Yard Waste Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department<https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on Friday, November 11.

*         Curbside collections for yard waste will be delayed by one business day to Monday, November 14.

*         The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will be closed on Friday, November 11.

Parks and Recreation

*         Durham Parks and Recreation<https://www.dprplaymore.org/> (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on Friday, November 11.

*         For information about DPR programs, activities, and events call (919) 560-4355 during office hours or visit the department's webpage<https://www.dprplaymore.org/>.



Downtown Parking

*         The Park Durham Customer Service Center<https://www.parkdurham.org/> will be closed on Friday, November 11.

*         On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, in some City-owned parking garages, and in City-owned surface parking lots.

*         To check the Special Event Parking Schedule, where the $7 per vehicle rate goes into effect in the Durham Centre, Corcoran Street and Church Street garages 90 minutes before the scheduled events, visit the Special Event Parking Calendar<https://www.parkdurham.org/calendar.aspx?CID=42>.

GoDurham
*         GoDurham<https://godurhamtransit.org/holiday-hours> will operate under its normal schedule on Friday, November 11.

Water and Sewer Emergencies

Water main break<https://durhamnc.gov/1344/Report-Water-Main-Breaks> and sewer overflow<https://durhamnc.gov/1346/Report-Sewer-Overflows-Backups> calls for service placed after-hours, on weekends or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the Water Management Department's after-hours emergency number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
