How can I get a copy of the PC's position that was voted on? I would like
to see the PC’s actual recommendation.  What is that specifically?  At the
meeting they said it was made up of their own requested changes and the
staff’s position. What was the PC’s final advice to the council?

You are correct that the Planning Commission is purely advisory and that
the City Council has complete discretion in approving or denying an item
such as this. The Council is not required to follow the advise of the
Planning Commission in making their decision.

Hi Ms. Young,

As an active member of my local neighborhood association and also as a
member of the InterNeighborhood Council, I am very concerned about the SCAD
UDO text amendment proposal (Unified Development Ordinance Text Amendment,
Simplifying Codes for Affordable Development (TC2200001)).

If I recall correctly it failed by a 50/50 vote in the last Planning
Commission (PC) meeting.

Could I have a written copy of your staff’s current position on SCAD and a
copy of the PC’s version?  Where does this thing go from here? I did not
see it on the next City Council (CC) agenda but I'm assuming it will go
there for a vote soon.

Also I would like some clarification on the relationship between the PC and
the CC. As far as I know, any PC vote is advisory only and the CC may vote
to approve or not approve changes in the UDO (or any other matter)
regardless of the advice they receive from the PC. Is that the case?
