  * The theme for this year's event will follow the national theme of "Legacy of Service: Honoring our Heroes Past, Present, and Future." Veterans are proud of their military service in defending our Nation. Honor reflects the military value and tradition of answering the call to duty. There is distinct honor in serving to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States of America.
  * "Let this Veterans Day be a moment of reflection, appreciation, and commitment," said Director of Durham County Veterans Services Lois Harvin-Ravin. "Together, as a community, let us amplify the 'Legacy of Service', weaving a tapestry of gratitude that spans generations. May our actions today honor the heroes of the past, stand beside the heroes of the present, and pave the way for the heroes of the future."
  * Veterans from all eras of service will be invited to participate in the Walk of Honor during the County's annual celebration of Veterans.
  * Capt. Helen E. Tripp, Manager of Community Paramedics with Durham County Emergency Medical Services, will sing the National Anthem.

  * The County will take part in Operation Green Light from November 6-12, shining a green light to support military veterans, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.
  * Most offices operated by the County will be closed for the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, November 10.
