Hi Everyone,

Please join us for the General Monthly meeting on Monday, March 18th, at
First Presbyterian Church beginning at Noon. The meeting topic will be
minority contracting with Durham City and its relationship to affordable
housing and housing affordability. Sheilah Faucette and Timothy Jackson
from Durham’s Finance Department will be among the presenters who will help
educate us.

Why are we discussing minority contracting? One of the concerns CAHT’s
public forum recorded last summer was the wages and incomes marginalized
and long-term residents' need to afford rentals and single-family houses in
Durham’s hypercompetitive housing market. Underserved residents cannot
continue to live in Durham if their business and workforce participation is
limited. Our discussion will help CAHT members understand the situation's
status and formulate a plan to answer the public’s call for help.

*We prefer that you attend this session in person*, as several
representatives from the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People
(DCABP) will join us for this discussion. However, if you need to
participate remotely, the Zoom link is https://us05web.zoom.us/j/87392843328
.

At the meeting’s conclusion, important announcements will be made about
CAHT’s leadership transition, new volunteer opportunities within our
organization, and the April General Monthly Meeting plans.
