Durham Community Invited to Test Drive New E-Bikes and Seated Scooters
Public Showcase and Celebration Set for August 22 at Durham Station

Who: City of Durham Transportation staff along with Spin and Veo representatives

What: Public showcase to launch expansion of the City's Shared Micromobility Program<https://www.durhamnc.gov/3219/Shared-Active-Transportation>. Spin and Veo representatives will answer questions about new seated scooters and e-bikes. They will also distribute free helmets to event participants and provide free test rides. GoDurham and City Transportation staff will share information and gather feedback on transportation options and traffic safety from event attendees.

When: Thursday, August 22 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Where: Durham Station Transportation Center, 515 W. Pettigrew Street, Durham

Background
*        Established in June 2019, the City of Durham's Shared Micromobility Program allows residents and visitors to rent electric scooters for short-term use across the city. This month, the program expands to include a total of three types of vehicles: standing scooters, seated scooters, and electric assist bicycles (e-bikes).

*        Shared micromobility devices help close first- and last-mile gaps in transit and offer greater access to jobs, school, healthcare, groceries, and more. The program is now accessible to more people because of discounted rates for qualified residents, alternative payment methods, and more stable and comfortable seated vehicle options.

*        The Durham community is invited to this event to test drive the new options and learn more about the Shared Micromobility Program.
