In collaboration with Durham Parks and Recreation<https://dprplaymore.org/>, the City of Durham’s Cultural and Public Art <https://www.durhamnc.gov/450/Cultural-Public-Art-Development> Program is seeking an Artist, Artist Team, or Artist and Fabricator Team with experience in projects centered around community-based engagement to design and install public art at Birchwood Park located at 3105 Hursey Street, Durham, NC, 27703<https://www.google.com/maps/place/3105+Hursey+St,+Durham,+NC+27703/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x89ace4b5f3200ef7:0xcb44287a3b5bd7b0?sa=X&ved=1t:242&ictx=111>.

The selected Candidate(s) will work to:
* Collaborate with the community through in-person engagement sessions and surveys,
* Develop community-informed designs for public artwork that visually connects to the site and/or recognizes historical and/or cultural aspects of the site,
* Beautify the basketball court through ground plane artwork and other areas of the park jointly identified by the community, City staff, and the artist(s), and
* Design, fabricate, and install artwork that is integrated into the site.
The selected Artist or Artist Team will have a total public art project budget of $144,000, inclusive of all costs associated with this public art project including, but not limited to: artist fees, other subcontractors’ fees, insurance that meets the standards of the City of Durham, engineering, materials, fabrication costs, transportation, installation of the artwork, community engagement, and documentation of the artwork on site.
