I couldn't agree more -- but everyone knows that :)

Please write our gov't officials, particularly members
of the JCCPC, and plead for/insist on changes to the
UDO that will enforce environmentally sustainable
development practices, particularly in the rural and
suburban tier:

ereckhow at durhamcountync.gov,
lcheek at durhamcountync.gov, mpage at durhamcountync.gov,
prcousin at earthlink.net, steve.medlin at durhamnc.gov,
beckymheron at nc.rr.com, council at ci.durham.nc.us,
gabrine013 at msn.com

The email I sent them is pasted below. I've heard from
one council member who says that this issue will be
discussed at the Dec JCCPC meeting -- hope concerned
people can make it (touch wood).

Thanks!
Melissa Rooney

Dear esteemed city council and county commission
members,

Please see the following letter to the Durham Herald
Sun in Today's paper. If current water restrictions
aren't enough to call for a moratorium on development,
the recent rain is no excuse not to act for more
environmentally responsible development. Durham city
and county must alter the rural and suburban sections
of the UDO to require development that will be
environmentally sustainable in the long run. Please
put some restrictions on clear-cutting and
mass-grading.
