Christmas trees

My personal preference for a Christmas tree is to get a real tree. Ask a
staff person if the tree will do well in your growing zone. Having a live
tree inside the home for a no more than a week or two will help the tree
survive in the ground because it will less likely to have become
acclimatized to the warmth of your home.

Toxic Free NC (formerly known as PESTed) is here to help you get ready for
the holidays with their annual guide to buying Christmas trees and wreaths
sustainably grown in North Carolina. Toxic Free NC compiled a list of
sources, as well as some links for more information on Christmas trees,
pesticides and farmworkers in NC.

³By choosing a tree or wreath from one of these growers, you'll get a host
of benefits: You'll protect your family from pesticide residues, protect
Christmas tree workers and their families from pesticide exposure on the
job, and you'll support local growers who respect their workers and our
environment.²

TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers) is selling trees,
wreaths and garlands at a number of locations in Durham and Chapel Hill as a
fundraiser

TROSA operates Tree Lots through December 24, 7 days a week, from 9 am to 10
pm. For more information, maps, and for your $5 dollar coupon, visit
http://holidaysbytrosa.com/

TROSA is a comprehensive, long-term, residential substance abuse recovery
program located in Durham. Founded in 1994, TROSA is now the largest
state-licensed residential therapeutic community in North Carolina and is
widely respected for its innovative entrepreneurial approach to the
pervasive issue of substance abuse.

TROSA's purpose is to help substance abusers overcome their addictions, so
there are a myriad of support groups and structured activities required for
residents. By the time they graduate from the program, residents have a
personal savings account, a donated and refurbished car, transitional
housing, and marketable job skills.²
