Recycle your Christmas tree

I want people to know of possibilities of what to do with there Christmas
trees other than just sticking the the trees out on the street.

Duke Primate Center (the Lemur Center) is not accepting trees in 2009.

For list of organizations to make year end donations to see Durham
Organizations to Support Dec 2009 (sent on December 20, 2009.) If you would
like to do more research you may want to go to American Institute of
Philanthropy; or http://www.justgive.org or http://www.charitynavigator.org,
both of which are great for evaluating and comparing charitable
organizations. The Triangle Community Foundation has developed a web page
called ³Triangle Gives Back² http://www.trianglegivesback.org/ about
organizations and contributing to groups in general. The Durham People¹s
Alliance has put together a Resource Directory (see http://www.durhampa.org/
<http://www.durhampa..org/> ). Time is running out for making a donation so
please take action now. These groups can really use your help. No amount of
money is too small. You can make a difference.

----------

Shipping materials

Many shipping stores will accept cardboard boxes and peanuts so that at
least they wil get used one more time before being recycled.

-----------

Protecting plants from cold

Mulching plants with wood chips, pine straw and leaves helps to insulate
them from the cold. It is also recommended to leave grass clippings on the
yard to hold moisture.
