County Residents Can Now Recycle and Win in 2010
April 19, 2010
Durham, NC- Today marks the beginning of Durham County's Recycle and Win Campaign where residential recycling customers can win pairs of Durham Bulls' baseball game tickets for simply recycling properly.
According to Brian S. Haynesworth, waste reduction specialist for the Durham County General Services Department, "Recycle and Win rewards county residents that recycle their items at the roadside. It's a win-win scenario that helps the environment and increases the rate of participation of recycling in Durham County."
Recycle and Win starts Monday, April 19, 2010, and concludes on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. For fifteen weeks, one household per collection day is eligible to be randomly selected to win a pair of Durham Bulls game tickets, an all you can eat buffet meal and souvenir cap. The baseball game tickets will be for the August 6, 2010, ballgame against the Indianapolis Indians. Winners will be announced each week on the County's Waste Reduction and Recycling Web site at http://recycle.durhamcountync.gov
Contest Rules:
The contest is open to Durham County Government residential recycling customers only. City of Durham recycling residents are not eligible to participate.To be eligible to win, the resident must properly recycle according to the rules governing the Durham County residential recycling collection program.One contest winner will be randomly chosen each day by 4 p.m. when recycling is collected in the County. The names of contest winners will be posted to the Durham County General Services Web Site. Participants are encouraged to visit the County's Waste Reduction and Recycling web site to increase chances of being selected by taking the Durham County Recycling Survey. The contest runs April 19, 2010 and ends August 3, 2010.

About the Department of General Services:
The Durham County General Services Department oversees the solid waste management and recycling programs within Durham County, outside the City limits. Services include the operation of four solid waste convenience sites with recycling centers and the roadside collection of recyclables from County residents. Recycling collection for the County is handled by TFC Recycling.
