Durham Celebrates National Bike-to-Work Week Beginning May 17

 

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham cycling enthusiasts should mark their calendars
now to attend multiple events that celebrate National Bike-to-Work Week.
The following events are scheduled for throughout the week to encourage
Durham residents to grab their bikes and helmets and enjoy the ride.

 

Bike-to-Work Week - Neighborhood Events

 

*         Monday, May 17, from 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m.  "Bike-to-Work Week
Breakfast" in Trinity Park neighborhood (location: Trinity Park at
corner of Trinity Ave. and Watts St.)

 

*         Monday, May 17, from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m.  "Bike-to-Work Week
Breakfast" in Watts Hospital-Hillandale neighborhood (location: Oval
Park near the intersection of Club Blvd. and Oval Dr.)

 

Bike-to-Work Week - Duke University

 

*         Tuesday, May 18, from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  Bike-to-Work Week
event at Bryan Center Plaza on Duke University's campus.

 

Bike-to-Work Week - Citywide Events

 

*         Wednesday, May 19, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.  "Cyclists' Social" at
Alivia's Durham Bistro, 900 E. Main St. (on corner of Main St. and
Gregson St.).  Cyclists can enjoy free food and giveaways.  Sponsored by
the Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission.  For more

*         Thursday, May 20, from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.  "Bike-to-Work
Breakfast" at Five Points Plaza (corner of Main and Chapel Hill Streets
in downtown Durham).  Cyclists will enjoy free food and coffee along
with prizes. Sponsored by the Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory

*         Sunday, May 23, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Bull City Summer Streets
around Durham Central Park.  Clean Energy Durham and GoTriangle are
co-hosting an event where one mile of city streets near downtown will be
opened to biking, walking, and playing. Residents are invited to come
enjoy the safety and fun of open streets, participate in free dance and
aerobics classes, play catch in the old ballpark, and more.  For more
