City Council Receives Public Feedback on 2011-2012 Proposed $362.4
Million Budget

The City Council is now considering feedback on the proposed $362.4
million budget for next year. During a public hearing, City leaders
received input on the Administration's proposed spending plan. The plan
includes a tax increase of $0.56 cents per $100 of assessed property
value for debt service. The increase would raise the annual taxes for
the owner of a $150,000 home by $8.40. Final approval of the budget is
set for June 20.

City Council Approves Water and Sewer Rate Increase

The City's water and sewer rates will be going up. The new rate
structure will continue to follow the tier system already in place and
will help cover operating costs with some new water and sewer
initiatives. Water Management Director Don Greeley explains how the
increase is expected to affect residents on the upcoming episode of
"City Hall This Week."

New Pine Straw Ordinance Approved

Townhomes and apartment buildings that use pine straw as decorative
landscaping will soon have to find an alternative. The City Council
approved an ordinance banning the use of pine straw from within 10 feet
of combustible structures. The new ordinance goes into effect on July 1.
Fire Chief Bruce Pagan explains why the ordinance was needed on the
upcoming episode of "City Hall This Week."
