About: Durham County Library will host Dr. Otis Alexander for a dramatization of the works of Georgia Douglas Johnson, Dudley Randall, Claude McKay, Langston Hughes, Paul Laurence Dunbar and others. The reading, in celebration of Black History Month, takes place on Sunday, February 19 at 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St.

In August of last year, Dr. Alexander performed a program of classical music that included a reading by Dunbar. By popular demand, he returns for a joyful, interactive performance that is appropriate for secondary school students as well as adults.

Dr. Alexander is an accomplished classical musician, storyteller and artist. His art has been exhibited in Egypt and Washington, DC. When not singing, painting or acting, Dr. Alexander is the director of the Gary Public Library System in Indiana.

This program is sponsored, in large part, by Durham Library Foundation. For more information, contact Joanne Abel at 560-0268.

Durham County Library provides the entire community with books, services and other resources that inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding and excite the imagination. For more information, visit your local library or visit us online at www.durhamcountylibrary.org.
