New "City Hall This Week" Debuts Tonight

New Episode Begins Airing Friday, June 15 on DTV8 and "On Demand" on
City's YouTube Channel

DTV8's "City Hall This Week" will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m.
Hosted by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Amy Blalock, this show will
feature the following highlights and other topics of interest. You can
also watch this new episode on demand at
http://www.YouTube.com/CityofDurhamNC.

Bus on Shoulders System Set to Begin in Durham County

North Carolina's first Bus on Shoulders System will be launched on I-40
in Durham County in mid-July. The program will allow transit buses with
trained drivers to operate on the shoulders of the interstate at low
speeds. This will allow the buses to bypass backed-up or slowed traffic
and maintain transit schedules when I-40 is congested. The program will
begin on July 16 and is already in place in more than 10 states. For
more information, visit http://www.TriangleTransit.org.

Accident Reports Available Online

Durham drivers now have a new way of accessing accident reports without
having to go by the Durham Police Department. CARFAX is offering an
online copy of the report, which is the same as the hard copy, and can
be purchased within three-to-five business days after an accident. Jason
Schiess, analytical services division manager for the Durham Police
Department, explains how the online report can be accessed in this
episode of "City Hall This Week."

American Tobacco Trail in Southern Durham Closed for Construction

The American Tobacco Trail is now closed between Highway 54 south to the
Chatham County line for the next 13 months. In addition, trail parking
on Fayetteville Road near New Hope Church Road will be closed for that
entire time as well. The closure is needed to allow for construction of
the final phase of the trail in Durham County. The existing trail from
Renaissance Parkway to the Chatham County line will reopen by March
2013.

City's Outdoor Pools and Spray Grounds Open for the Summer

With the exception of one, the City's outdoor pools and spray grounds
are now open. Forest Hills Pool and Hillside Pool both opened on June
14, but Long Meadow Pool is not yet open because of mechanical issues.
The three spray grounds are located at Forest Hills, Edison Johnson, and
East End Park.

"We Care" Features 2012 Winner of the Cora Cole-McFadden Diversity
Change Agent Award

Durham is a city of great diversity and those who strive to embrace and
incorporate those differences into the overall community deserve special
recognition. This week's "We Care" segment features James "Leo" Leonti,
code enforcement officer with the City's Neighborhood Improvement
Services Department, who recently received the 2012 Cora Cole-McFadden
Diversity Change Agent Award for his actions to help create and maintain
a work environment that values differences....and all-around "good guy"
who values everyone, includes everyone, and serves everyone.
