Durham Seeking Nonprofit Applicants for Permanent Housing Funds
Deadline for Durham Nonprofits to Submit Applications to the City is
December 10
DURHAM, N.C. - Durham affordable housing nonprofits serving chronically
homeless individuals should take note that additional federal funding is
available and that the City of Durham is seeking applicants for it.
The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) released the
Notice of Funding Availability for the 2012 Continuum of Care Program
Competition earlier this month. The notice confirmed that the Durham
Continuum of Care is eligible to apply for up to $975,392 in funding,
plus $97,539 for a permanent housing bonus project that must be used to
serve chronically homeless persons.
At this time, the City's Community Development Department, as the lead
agency, is seeking additional applications for funding for the permanent
housing bonus of $97,539. Eligible applications must propose to create
permanent housing for 100 percent chronically homeless people with
priority on serving those who have the longest histories of
homelessness.
The deadline for completing an application for this funding is Monday,
December 10 at 4 p.m. Applicants must complete the HUD application in
e-snaps at http://www.hud.gov/esnaps, save a copy of the application in
.pdf format, and provide three hard copies of this e-snaps application
in a three-ring binder to the City's Community Development Department by
the application deadline. The .pdf file also must be transmitted by
email to Lloyd.Schmeidler at DurhamNC.gov by the application deadline.
For additional information, applicants are encouraged to read the full
notice at http://www.hudhre.info/documents/FY2012CoCProgramNOFA.pdf.
To express interest in this funding opportunity or for more information,
contact Project Manager Lloyd Schmeidler with the City's Community
Development Department at (919) 560-4570 ext. 22267 or by email at
Lloyd.Schmeidler at DurhamNC.gov by the close of business on Monday,
November 26.
