Durham Publishes 2015 Drinking Water Quality Report
Zero Violations of Any Water Quality Standards
DURHAM, N.C. — Cool, clear water. It’s what the City of Durham provides each and every day to Durham residents.
Each year, the City’s Water Management Department publishes an annual water quality report to educate on their efforts to ensure this precious natural resource. This year’s report, “Cool, Clear Water<http://durhamnc.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2267>,” is now available in English<http://durhamnc.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2267> and Spanish<http://durhamnc.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2290> on the City’s website<http://durhamnc.gov/946/Annual-Reports>.
According to Director Don Greeley with the City’s Water Management Department, this year’s report shows that the City had zero violations of any water quality standards in 2015. “Water Management’s more than 300 employees strive daily to make sure clean, safe water is always ready for our customers when they turn on the tap,” said Greeley. “In addition to providing information about the quality of Durham’s tap water, this report offers customers insight into how we treat and deliver their drinking water. Our goal in delivering the report is much more than just meeting a regulatory requirement. We want our customers to have a better understanding of what they can do to conserve and preserve our most valuable natural resource.”
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires all water systems to provide its water quality report to customers by July 1. Beginning in 2013, EPA regulations allow drinking water providers to distribute the report electronically. Customers can email<mailto:wqreport at durhamnc.gov> or call (919) 560-4381 to request a copy of the report by U.S. Postal Service.
