Durham YouthWorks Program Now Seeking Applicants for Summer 2021
Online Applications Accepted Until April 25

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham young adults who want to participate in a paid, work-based learning experiences this summer can now apply to participate in the 2021 Durham YouthWorks Program<https://durhamnc.gov/598/Durham-Youthwork-Internship-Program>.

The program works in partnership with local employers to develop a talent pipeline of emerging employees. It's designed to prepare young adults, ages 16-24, for jobs and careers through project-based work experiences led by local employers in Durham's top employment sectors.

This summer's reimagined program will include multiple paid, four-week session options to help prepare participants for jobs and careers through project-based work experiences. New for this year, participants can choose to enroll in one-of-three sessions:

*        Session 1: June 7 - July 2

*        Session 2: June 28 - July 23

*        Session 3: July 26 - August 20

Young adults joining one of the sessions will earn an $800 stipend for successful program completion. As part of the session, participants will also take part in a virtual job skills workshop provided by Durham Technical Community College. Following completion of the workshop, participants will then have the opportunity to apply lessons learned in paid, work-based learning experiences with local employers while exploring education pathways and career options.

To apply to this year's program, applicants should visit the program<https://durhamnc.gov/598/Durham-Youthwork-Internship-Program> website to complete an online application by Sunday, April 25. Participants will be selected by lottery and notified in mid-May.

Employers interested in participating in the program are also encouraged to register by Saturday, May 15 on the program's website<https://durhamnc.gov/598/Durham-Youthwork-Internship-Program>.

The Durham YouthWorks Program is administered by the City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce Development, in partnership with Durham County Government, Durham Public Schools, and Durham Technical Community College.
