When: Monday, December 6, 2021, at 7 p.m.

Where: City Hall Council Chambers, 101 City Hall Plaza, First Floor, Durham, N.C. 27701

Quick Facts

*         Durham residents are invited to watch the Oath of Office Ceremony for the City of Durham's newly elected and re-elected City Council Members:

o   new Mayor Elaine O'Neal

o   re-elected Ward I Council Member DeDreana Freeman

o   re-elected Ward II Council Member Mark-Anthony Middleton

o   new Ward III Council Member Leonardo Williams


*         Former Mayors William V. "Bill" Bell, Nick Tennyson, and Wib Gulley are expected to be in attendance for the ceremony.


*         Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, capacity will be limited to 75 people inside the Council Chambers to help ensure physical distancing. Residents are encouraged to watch this ceremony virtually, especially if they are unvaccinated.


*         The Oath of Office Ceremony, followed by the City Council regular business meeting, will be broadcast live on the following channels:

*         Face coverings are required for all individuals inside City Hall regardless of vaccination status. Disposable face coverings and hand sanitizer are available at the public entrances to City Hall at no charge.
