Plan to Attend - Let’s Talk Civics: Making Regional Transportation
Decisions on May 11



The League of Women Voters is presenting Let's Talk Civics: How Are
Regional Transportation Decisions Made - including how citizens can get
involved - on Wednesday, May 11 from 5:30 - 7 pm. The online program will
begin with a PowerPoint presentation outlining the structure and function
of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and why their decisions are
so important in shaping our future by Aaron Cain, Planning Manager for the
Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro MPO.



Following the presentation, we will have a robust discussion with three
local elected officials – Hillsborough Mayor Jenn Weaver who is the current
MPO Chair; Chatham County Commission Chair Karen Howard who is the MPO
Vice-Chair; and Durham County Commission Vice-Chair Wendy Jacobs who is a
past MPO Chair. They will discuss the role of the MPO in transportation
decision-making, past and current major projects, challenges with funding,
and ways that citizens can more effectively participate in decisions. There
will be time for your questions and comments.
